Holland Park Residence

A retreat in the heart of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

Located in one of the most highly sought-after neighbourhoods in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea resides this spectacular home with views over Holland Park.  Originally built by James Hall in 1859, Lord Holland’s favourite builder, the current owners requested for it to be completely remodelled.  This has resulted in volumous rooms, with deeper bay windows to the front of the property and enlarged reception rooms and accommodation above.

Preferring a neutral palette, our clients’ primary request was for us to create the feeling of “retreat” from their busy work schedules, whilst they reside in their London residence.  Thus, we introduced soothing brown tones to calm the senses, such as caramel, walnut and tan, along with greige and cream for a delicate contrast.

We also layered a range of textures, especially with fabrics that are soft to the touch, offering comfort and nurture.  Velvet, Cashmere and Silk Wool throws and cushions enhance the cocooning effect of the reception rooms and bedrooms, designed for optimal relaxation and rest.

A carefully curated lighting design was implemented, to imbue a sense of calm and restoration.  Wall sconces, table lamps and floor lamps were installed in most rooms, with pendant lanterns and ceiling lamps taking second place, to evoke an atmosphere of tranquility.  The generously proportioned windows emit an abundance of natural light, enhancing wellbeing and optimal vitamin D levels, even whilst residing indoors.
